The Dragon - week 7 Refurb
We have a provisional opening date;
March the 22nd! Fingers crossed!
Our opening hours will be :
Monday to Thursday 16:00- 23:00
Friday –Saturday 12:00 – 23:00
Sunday 12:00 – 22:30
We are planning to continue to refurbish various behind the scenes areas in the pub over the next year / 18months; so the toilets will come inside, a new kitchen will be installed and a function room on the first floor will make for a nice added space. I am really excited to everyone to see the bar once it is finished; we have been working really hard to make it warm, welcoming and to add back some Georgian character. Hope you all enjoy your weekend and seeing the pictures of the beer engines being installed. I will send a final email out to confirm our opening date and time at the end of next week, just in case. Katie
The Dragon – Week one refurb
24th January – 1st of February 2016
The Dragon has had its first week in the refurbishment process and wow we have ripped out a lot of stuff. Four skips on and the worst of the rubbish is out.
The most important thing in the first week has been to remove all the wall furniture and replace and repair it; ready for it to be covered. Neil our carpenter (assisted by Keith his new young apprentice) has been hard at work as lots of the seats needed extensive renovation as they were quite badly damaged.
The other members of the team; lead by Gary (our very own human wrecking ball) have been ripping out, stripping wall paper, re wiring, plumbing, and generally getting the shell ready for its new bar and first fixings.
Mum and I were let loose on the flower beds, resulting in them being dismantled; ready for some new troughs and trellis. A new pick axe was purchased but we let Stewart use it as it was deemed we didn’t have the necessary health and safety training or more importantly any hand to eye coordination.
NB: No alcohol was harmed in the process; all our older individuals found willing homes and the young stock is all safely tucked up in the (recently refurbished) cellar ready and awaiting the reopening.
