Green HopsGreen hop beers can only be made at a certain time of year; directly after the harvest. Green hops add a strong, oily resinous bitterness to the beers flavour but must be used within approximately 48 hours of picking.

Green hop beers on over this weekend are Boston Fat Boy and I.G.A.

Our green hops are of the Pilgrim variety which is a UK hop.
Pilgrim is a mid-late ripening very Wilt resistant dual-purpose variety hop, which was developed at HRI Wye and released in 2000. It has the same father as First Gold and Herald although it is not a dwarf variety. Pilgrim has a very vigorous growth habit and has good resistance to both powdery and downy mildew. It has shown to be the most Wilt resistant variety to date and is a very high yielder.

Our pilgrim hops were grown by Mr & Mrs Richard Capper from Stocks Farms, suckley, Worcestershire.

Second Tuesday of the month. Food served 1800-2100, booking is necessary. Steaks are sourced from Frank Parker's butchers, and served with hand cooked chips, garlic mushrooms, grilled tomato, onion rings, and sauce of the day. £13.95pp

Why not come and try our home cooked food, served daily between 12:00-14:30, Tuesday to Saturday. All of our ingredients are sourced from local suppliers, including frank Parker's butchers, Nuneaton,all freshly made on the premises. Or why not try a home-made sausage roll, porky or Scotch eggs, available from the bar. We are also selling a range of cheeses from Leicestershire handmade cheese company, Upton.
